Australian Institute of Advanced Studies is an approved VET Student Loans (VSL) provider. This means that some of our course fees can be deferred as an Australian Government VET Student Loan. The following courses are approved for VSL:
The VET Student Loans program is an Australian Government loan program that helps eligible students pay tuition fees for approved higher-level vocational education and training (VET) courses, at diploma level or above, when studying with an approved VET Student Loans provider.
If you are eligible, you may be able to access a VET Student Loan from the Australian Government to help pay your tuition fees. The loan amount is paid directly to your approved course provider. You will be responsible for any gap amount in your tuition fees that is not covered by the loan.
A VET Student Loan gives rise to a VETSL debt, which continues to be a debt due to the Commonwealth until it is repaid. Your VETSL debt is indexed to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) each year, and a loan fee may apply, meaning your total debt could be up to 20% more than the loan amount. Your debt is repaid through the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) once your income is above the compulsory repayment threshold. You can also make voluntary repayments at any time.
